one step towards cleanliness
Following the tireless efforts of our revered Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji in spreading the awareness of sanitation and hygiene, we have started to construct Toilets and Baths for the poor families with the help of the Divine Life Society, Sivananda Ashram of Rishikesh.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Swachh Bharat Abhiyan we have so far constructed 350 toilets and baths for the economically weaker families of these villages. The toilet and bath consist of proper concrete roof with overhead tank, running water, electrical fittings and tiled walls & Floors, constructed approximately at the cost of Rs.50, 000/- per Toilet & Bath. The beneficiaries are also involved in this project. By involving them with collective labour, in digging of foundation and pit for waste disposal, making hollow bricks and helping the masons during construction, beneficiaries contribute by way of their labour. Presently 48 Toilets & Baths are under construction. Our mission is to reach out to every remote village in this Himalayan region where people don’t have access to toilets. We surveyed 36 villages in Bhatwari & Dunda Block of Uttarkashi District and listed about 2206 families. Out of this we have targeted 468 more families to cover under this scheme..
